Brief Biography
Summer Days, 1936
Georgia O'Keeffe (15th November 1887~ 6th March 1086) was a famous artist who focused on nature. Most of her paintings are flowers, desert skulls, and paintings of her inner-self. Georgia liked these types of paintings because she lived in a farm.
At age 5, Georgia O'Keeffe went to school. She only enjoyed the private art lessons she took after school. She wanted to become an artist.
When she was in high school, her family moved to Virginia and everyone loved her drawings. After graduating high school, she decided to study at the Art Institute of Chicago. Sadly, she had to rest for a year because she was very sick. When she felt better, she went to New York and continued studying.
In 1912, she began taking drawing lesson at the University of Virginia. In 1915, she became a teacher at a women's college in South Carolina.

In 1916, a photographer, Alfred Stieglitz, was inspired the paintings by Georgia O'Keeffe, and secretly showed them in his gallery. Georgia O'Keeffe was at first upset when she found out, but later forgave him. The photographer helped her drawings become famous.
In 1918, Georgia was sick again. While she was recovering, she wrote letters to Alfred Stieglitz. Later on, the two fell in love and eventually got married. They moved to a lake house. This was where she began creating the paintings she is best known for. In the 1930's moved to New Mexico. This was where she started painting animal skulls.
Georgia O'Keeffe continued painting until she lost her eyesight and died on the 6th of March 1806.
